Overview

The Melbourne Graduate Research Scholarships are prestigious, fully funded awards for international and domestic students to pursue Master’s by research or PhD degrees at the University of Melbourne, Australia.

Coverage

- Full tuition fee waiver for up to 2 years (Master’s) or up to 4 years (PhD). - Annual living stipend of $39,500 (2026 rate). - Relocation allowance of $3,000 for international students. - Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) membership for international students. - Limited paid sick, maternity, and parenting leave.

Eligibility

- Open to all nationalities, including Ethiopian students. - Must meet the entry requirements for a graduate research program at the University of Melbourne. - Must have completed a bachelor’s degree (16 years of education) with at least 75% grades for Master’s programs. - Must have completed a master’s degree (18 years of education) with at least 75% grades for PhD programs. - Must demonstrate research potential.

How to apply

There is no separate application for the scholarship. New applicants who apply for a graduate research course at the University of Melbourne before the deadline are automatically considered.
