Overview

The Duke University Karsh Scholarship, also known as the Karsh International Scholars Program, is a fully funded scholarship for international students pursuing undergraduate studies (B.A. or B.Sc.) at Duke University in the United States. Established in 2010 through a generous donation from Martha L. and Bruce A. Karsh, the program aims to support intellectually and civically engaged international students who promote interdisciplinary inquiry, academic research, and scholarship for the benefit of society.

Coverage

This scholarship is fully funded and covers full tuition fees, accommodation and board, and all required university fees. Additionally, it provides funding for three summers of research, support for unpaid internships, and other academic career advancement opportunities.

Eligibility

This scholarship is open to all international students from around the world, with the exception of dual US nationals and US citizens. Ethiopian students are explicitly eligible, as Ethiopia is listed among the nationalities of current scholars. Applicants must intend to begin their undergraduate studies at Duke University and cannot already hold a B.A. or B.Sc. degree. Demonstrated financial need is a mandatory requirement for eligibility.

Requirements

Applicants must demonstrate strong academic preparedness and a clear financial need. To be considered for the Karsh Scholarship, you must apply for financial aid when submitting your application to Duke University.

How to apply

There is no separate application specifically for the Karsh International Scholarship. To apply, you must first apply for admission to Duke University as an international undergraduate student. During your application process to Duke University, you must also request financial aid. By doing so, you will automatically be considered for the Karsh International Scholars Program.

Notes

The scholarship is specifically for undergraduate-level studies. Students from any academic discipline are welcome to apply.
